Yesterday I was on phone duty in the morning. Phone duty is when an agent is assigned a time frame(mine was 9a-1p) to answer property calls from our signs all over the area or various advertisements. I got several calls, and one turned into a showing that I’ll be doing tonight at 6:30! I’m hoping that will turn into a contract, especially since I don’t have any houses under contract right now(except for one that is joint effort between another agent and me).
I’ve been working on finding a home for someone under 25,000 but the options at that price range are pretty run down. One of the houses I found yesterday looked like it might work but when I called to go see it, I found out it had been foreclosed on. Now I’m expanding my search up 35,000 and seeing if we can find a place and negotiate it down to 25,000.
As a Longview real estate agent, I am considered self employed and have no insurance. Several months ago I had a strange bump that appeared on my arm. It didn’t hurt so I didn’t worry too much about going to the doctor. I was also afraid of how much it would cost to get it looked at without insurance. Finally after many agents in my office pestering me about it I decided to get it checked out. I went to Taylor Medical Center first and they want $145 for the first visit plus extra cost for x-rays and anything else. That sounded ridiculous so I asked them if they knew of a cheaper place and they recommended Good Shepherd Family Health on Mobberly. Once I got down there they told me if I paid cash it would be $85 for the first visit. So I took that deal and waited for over an hour until the PA got to see me, he looked at the bump and didn’t know what it was either. He called the doctor and in and he looked at it too. Neither of them really knew what it was so they took several x-rays and found the bump just to be floating under the skin, meaning that it could simply be cut out. They don’t do surgery there so they’re going to refer me to a general surgeon sometime today to get it removed. Hope that doesn’t cost too much!
Now I’ve got to take on the day. I’m driving by a home in Kilgore to see how much it’s worth and possibly list it, following up with prospects, and then showing a house this evening.
